FREE VINTAGE BUS RIDE IN NORWICH
20th to 24th December
Whether it’s for shopping for those last-minute gifts or just to enjoy the fabulously festive atmosphere in Norwich, there’s a great new way to get around the City this Christmastime – on an iconic 1965 London Transport Routemaster 64-seater double-decker bus! In collaboration with Norwich BID, David McMaster who runs Awayadays (providing private hire for weddings, tours and special occasions) will offer a chance for shoppers to experience an old London Bus with driver and conductor (dressed ready for Christmas of course!) to see some of the City’s festive decorations and to take the opportunity to hop on-hop off at a handful of stops for some Christmas shopping. David also operates the City Sightseeing Norwich open-top tour bus with 360 degree panoramic views of the city to see the major sights and attractions with a 24 hour unlimited ticket.
From 20th to 24th December there will be 5 trips each day on the half-hour starting from 10.30 with the last one departing at 14.30. The bright red vintage bus will start from Castle Meadow, travel up St Stephens and down Chapelfield Road, then via Bethel Street for the Market, along Exchange Street, Bank Plain and Prince of Wales Road to Station Yard with a 5-minute turnaround here. The shorter return trip will be via Rose Lane to Castle Meadow. This will be a free service, but passengers are encouraged to make a donation for a very worthy local cause – The Benjamin Foundation – which helps around 2000 children, young people and families in Norfolk and Suffolk each year.
